LUCAS BOELTER
Lucas Boelter (b. 1993, Mülheim an der Ruhr) is a painter, illustrator, and graphic designer who lives in Dortmund. In his work, Lucas Boelter creates vibrantly colored worlds that, at first glance, appear to be whimsical fantasies, yet at the same time humorously reflect aspects of the reality of our lives today. Painting forms the core of his work, though he frequently engages in various interdisciplinary projects, such as film and comic book projects. In his video work “Spätfolgen,” he took a satirical look at formats like late-night talk shows, combining different forms of puppetry. Boelter’s visual works consist, on the one hand, of comic-like depictions and, on the other, of expressive painting. His works remain firmly rooted in real-life experiences and social observations. A friend of the artist recently described him as “as multi-layered as a layer cake.”
